Selected Bubblefunk Event Highlights.

01/10/04 L&M Transglobe DJ Mix Tour, Samara.

02/10/04 Marlboro DJ Tour, Krasnodor.

Ending up spending most of this night in an airport lounge drinking vodka due to flight delays, James eventually made the club an hour past when he was due to start - a great night in the end - if a little short. Bushwacka's 'Walk like an Egyptian' mix went down a storm. The club was situated in a coastal resort near the Red Sea - the weather was alot warmer than in the UK for october! DJ's Supanov and more.

19/09/04 + 03/10/04 Diamond Hall, Moscow. Afterhours Parties.

It's not often James get asked to start a DJ set at 7am in the morning. Located on the grounds of one of Moscow's large hotels near the kremlin - You enter a well-lit hallway lined with beautiful young model girls and come upon a cavernous dance hall with a stage, seating off to the side, and more on a balcony above the bar. Strange to see DJs still spinning and people dancing at 7 in the morning!

17/09/04 Marlboro DJ Tour, Omsk, Russia.

James says that this was one of his favourite DJ gigs of recent years - a fantastic enthusiastic crowd of about 2000 - a great hands in the air night in a disused car repair hanger - amazing decor, light show and dancers. Russia's famous Radio DJ Sukov took hold before James rocked the night away - see our photos page for more pics - also check out our Russia 04 DJ mix for an idea of the best music played.

Monthly 03+04 United Tribes, The DogStar, Brixton, London UK.

Koru and Bubblefunk's ComeTogetherRecords monthly residency. Special guest DJs including among many others: 'DJ Da Cat' (Ibiza), DJ Jens from Emergency Records (UK) & DJ Nixon from Sans Frontieres & Atlantic Jaxx Records (Ghana/UK) also Lee Van Cliff on Percussion. A great transglobal mix of crowd funking the night away. Trip Funk, Sexy Tribal House, Breaks, Global, Urban, Progressive.

20/03/04 Marlboro DJ Tour, Tyumen.

Although it was a grueling flight shedule, it was all worth it to see 5000 people have a great time. Plus we've never seen rock climbing, bike stunts and cactus building at a party before. Again another fantastic party in a huge warehouse. James also squeezed in an hour radio show before the gig. See our Photos page for more details.

06/12/03 United Tribes, Ginglik, Shephards Bush, London UK.

"Londons best kept secret" - Mix Mag, "One of London's coolest bars" - The Sunday Times. Fusing some of the city's premier electronic and underground DJs and musicians with exhibitions, video installations, photography, digital art, sculpture, comedy nights and even martial and healing arts. Ginglik is a Cantonese martial arts term meaning explosive power. A Koru vs Bubblefunk session.

22/10/03 Samara.

James Bubblefunk's Birthday party in Samara started with a progressive house set after the MC and crowd sang happy birthday. James again played alongside top Russian DJ's Ivanov & Digger. 15/11/03 Club Fresh, Moscow Russia.

Having been kindly asked to undertake another gig in Moscow, Club Fresh was the ideal place to be for either chilling with a cherry hore in the smoke rooms, eating in the cafe or dancing in the club. James played a more pumping funky house set for a smallish dance floor yet up for it crowd. People in Moscow know how to dress up also!

14/11/03 Club Pulse, Novosibirsk, Siberia.

Siberia in November was -14! Very windy and snow swept + James Bubblefunk didnt have his Russian hat with him. Bubblefunk played a real mixture this time from vocal and tech house through to tribal & progressive James DJed alongside Russian DJ's Melory, Digger & Titan. Novosibirsk is 2.5 hours flight north of Moscow. See our photos page for further details.

24/10/03 Rostov-on-Don, Southern Russia

Bubblefunk returned to Russia for a date in Rostov-on-Don - southern Russia's largest city. Rostov is two hours flight south of Moscow. Playing alongside top Russian DJ's Ivanov & Digger, this was one of the best nights in Russia so far. The crowd were amazing, with incredibly good dancers both professional and in the crowd. 29/08/03 L&M Tour - Perm City, Russia.

Bubblefunk returned to Russia, this time for the city of Perm - James played from 1-3am to a crowd of 7000 people in the Olympic Stadium after a great tech-house set from Russian DJ Djungl. James layed down a progressive & tribal house set - bordering on tech-trance towards the end (well it seemed to work at the time!). See our photos page for more details.

27/06/03 - L&M Tour Krasnoyarsk Eastern Siberia.

An amazing trip and amazing people. - Incredibly hospitable and generous. James played from 2-4am to 3500 people at Krasnoyarsk sports stadium. One of the most amazing things to see in Siberia was the clouds at 5o'clock in the morning travelling at incredibly fast speeds over the hills as the sun came up - no camera could've captured it. Amazing.

28/06/03 - Club Mio Moscow.

Mio a club in Moscow was also a great gig on the Saturday, again with a fantastic crowd, James played as the guest DJ for 2-4am. In Moscow the temperature in the summer changes very quickly one minute it seems like summer, the next winter! - abit like the UK then. NYE 03 Phat Beach, Bondi Beach, Sydney, Australia.

A fantastic night of tribal and deep dirty progressive house for the ozzie massive. - James Bubblefunk played on the balcony till 5 in the morning - this was a party not to forget - and just a stones throw away from the Beach to watch the sunrise.

14/02/03 Bondi FM, Sydney, Australia.

James spun some laid back sexy summer funk grooves for Bondi FM on a hot Valentines day.Looking over the beach from the radio studio, you see the sea, the cliffs and the large blue sky... an inspirational setting if ever there was one.

21/06/02 Magic Stuff, Summer Solstice, Mass, Brixton London UK.

Bubblefunk vs Koru played a tech house and tribal breaks Set 10-1am. DJs included: Pied Piper Paul (NZ/UK) Transient/Mantra Records, VooV, DJ Philipp (HH/Ger), Plastik Park/Sunset, Manther Funkster (Greece/UK) Phacelift/Magus, Decor by Avikal (Ital/UK) & Visuals by Popeye People.

04/07/02 The Return of the Aotearoanz, Fabric London UK.

When our 'Haka' 12" was played at the end of the set at Fabric we experienced about 50 people doing the Maori ‘Haka’ dance, all in sync with one another. It made everyone’s hair stand on end and was one of the best grand finales to a set we've ever experienced. DJs among many others: Pitch Black, Freq Nasty, Nathan Haines, Tubbs.

02/06/02 The Fierce Festival Brockwell Park Brixton London UK.

Following electro guru Andrea Parker, Bubblefunk & Koru, played a selection of live tribal breaks for this southern hemisphere gathering. There were about 6 dance tents in the Club Arena including: Fevah, Sunday School, Antidote, Indiependance, Rockit, Carwash, Pendragon. DJ's among many others: Phil Reynolds (Nucleuz / Frantic), A1 People, Little Chris (Silver / Bedrock) & Mark Sinclair.

26/01/01 The Milky Way, Johannasburg, South Africa.

A progressive house mix was layed down for the Milky Way club in down town Johannasburg. South Africa has many diverse cultures, yet despite the differences people on the whole were incredibly hospitable and kind. The country is amazingly beautiful and I would recommend anyone to go! It's also a real eye opener to see millions of people still living with next to nothing in the Shanty Towns out side the major cities.

23/11/01 Squelch, The Arches, Kings Cross. London UK.

Koru & Bubblefunk's mashup of funk, house and breakbeat,went down next to Boom Click who brought funk, house and hard house tunes to the hi energy crowd. And as if that was not enough, the lucky guests were treated with a taste of DJ Baraka, of Return to the Source fame.
